Help New auto correct feature?

Lurker
So my phone is doing something it wasn't recently and I'm concerned I may have a virus or mal ware of some sort. The way it types has changed.
Here's what it used to do, which I like:
When I'd type a word, if mispelled, upon pressing space it'd change it to the suggested right word. However if I meant the word to be misspelled I cld simply hit backspace and it'd change back.
Now:
When I hit backspace it no longer changes back. Instead I'm forced to use the little check mark button.

Recently my phone informed me it needed to update, which I let it. Did everyone else get this update? Did I get scammed? Also at random the vibration for the keys turns off sometimes.

Thanks everyone

Well for one thing, you should mention your phone. Phones of different brands/models don't have the same apps and keyboards, so their autocorrect features differ.

Oh my mistake, when I made my profile here it asked all that so I thought it displayed it..anyways

Galaxy s6
Android 5.1.1

It sounds like a keyboard issue to me more than anything else. If I were you I'd go into the settings on your keyboard and see if something didn't get "magically" checked or un-checked as it would pertain to your particular problem. Don't ask me how it happens, but it does every once in a while for sure and worth checking out before you go any further!

Ah. The stock keyboard that comes with Samsungs? Well that's one of the things I disable immediately (I download Swiftkey first thing always), so sorry, can't help much. However, hiredgun's advice may help.
