New Battery, Charging Tips?

For all your experts out there, whats the best way to deal with the battery after opening it up. I've heard too many theories on lithium-ion batteries to know what to trust. For example, should I ...

Charge before turning it on,
Charge fully after turning it on,
Let it die naturally and then charge fully,
Let it die naturally and then do whatever...

I know a lot of you Verizon folks are getting your S3's in the next few days, so I thought this thread would be helpful. Thanks!

There is nothing special you have to do, when you first get it plug it, turn it on, and have fun! These are not NiCad batteries so they do not require full discharges. You will notice that after a couple of days the battery will seem to last longer, most of that is from the built in battery monitor learning the battery.

the booklet that comes with the phone recommends you charge it to full (green light) and then turn it on, after that charge it as you require it

Do we really need to turn the phone off while charging? Will there be negative effects if we keep it on?

FWIW, Seidio, and other 3Rd party battery makers echo the same guidance regarding new batteries (see red text):
