I don't know what is causing your poor battery life. Instead of "Airplane mode", you might get less drain using "Do Not Disturb" or "Extreme Power Saving Mode". Just a thought.

Seems that Battery Life has deteriorated subsequent to updating to Android 4.4.4. They must have placed something into the update that is a battery sucker. Wakelock detector does not work on phones with 4.4.4 that are not rooted!

Do NOT factory reset before trying a few things first.

#1 You can get GSAM battery monitor and find out what app is causing the drain.
#2 You can follow the guide here to find the culprit.
#3 You can boot into safe mode and see if the battery drain is still there. If it still drains then a factory reset is in order, If not, it is some third party app that is sucking your battery dry and then you will need to either uninstall apps ones at a time to find or use a battery monitor (see #1 or #2 option)

Only just upgrading to 4.4.4 now (literally now)
