Help New battery = missing icons?

Hi

I recently obtained a replacement battery for my Galaxy Epic Touch 4G and for some odd reason when I power it with the new battery none of my apps are freely accessible, although they are functioning normally. To elaborate I am able to use my task killer from the top bar, and my messaging app gives me messages, but my Home screen is blank. If I try to select the Applications icon I either get a loading circle or just the Applications icon changing to Home, otherwise nothing changes. I am however still able to use the other 3 main buttons (Phone, Contacts, Messaging).

I've tried everything short of hard resetting cause I don't think that would help, as it always works with the old battery and never works with the new one. I searched as much as I thought I could over the web to see if someone else had this problem, and frankly I'm stumped as to how a different battery could cause this, any speculation or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The replacement battery I'm trying to use is the Onite 1900mAh rechargeable for the Galaxy S2.

Thanks
