New Captivate user

How do you download music, etc. from the computer to the captivate phone? Do I need an special app to do it? I connected the USB to both but it just stares at me and doesn't do anything. Any help is appreaciated.

Connect usb, then select Disk Drive from the menu.

Thank you but nothing happens when I plug USB. The phone says it connected but the computer and activesync doesn't, says it not connected.

Pull down the notification bar and select disk drive then.
