New cell phone user

I am a grandmother and got this LP500 Android phone for my birthday. I have no clue how to use it. I have sent text messages, but don't even know how to make a phone call. I will have LOTS of questions, the first being how do I delete text messages? All my kids are keen on me doing this, but I now have over 1000 messages. Yikes! Here I go into a new world!:o:confused::eek:

HELLO...Welcome to the forum. You can delete messages in various ways. One way is to long press on that message, and you'll see an option to delete. Another way is to open the message application, and Tap menu on the phone, and check the messages you want to delete. Keep in mind - that this method will delete all messages within that folder. Enjoy the forum. :)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

Rushrl is correct to delete individual messages, but with over 1000, that would be tedious indeed. I would recommend setting a message limit. If you open up the text message app and hit menu>settings you will see where you can set that limit. I have mine set at 200 per conversation, but you can go lower if space is an issue. One thing I will warn you is that when that threshold is reached, the oldest messages get deleted permanently and are unrecoverable unless you've backed them up. If you receive any important texts that you wish to keep indefinitely, you need to save them out of the text app.

For most of your future questions you should ask in LG Optimus One (P500) - Android Forums which I believe is the forum for your phone model. Have fun. :)
