New comer with HTC Hero ... with trouble (Belgium restriction)

Hi Everyone, new HTC Hero owner ... but looks a bit not compatible with the last firmware :mad:. Looks to be related to Belgium and Youtube restriction ...

On Windows :

Erreur[131] : Erreur ID Client

On Droid :

Checking custom ID...
Update Fail!

So, maybe rooting it or waiting .

@kalamaris I'm also a Belgian user and installed the official RUU yesterday.
I had no problems. I did purchase my handset "aux Pays-Bas" ;).
But I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Exept that I do have a native youtube app installed.

I just by one tagged for Belgium, and it looks that the restriction (in Youtube) are really there. It explain the delay for delivery and announced by some sites ex HTC Hero | Norio.

same from the HTC Support :
as for the update, we have not released the Belgian update yet, as there are som issues regarding Youtube that need to be sorted out.
also, if you have bought the device from Mobistar or especially proximus, you would need to get the ROM direct from that network, as they customise the ROMs before install and their handsets do not accept our ROMs.

But now ... just rooted the device and installed the 'non official' one. Haaa legals and politics .

Not an IM ... but you can PM (private msg) by right clicking on the their name and that will take you to their profile where you can PM them ...

For those who bought the white Hero from Mobistar Belgium, the upgrade is available at
ROM Upgrade for HTC Hero
It gives an upgrade from 1.76.66.5 to 2.73.66.5
Faster but same restrictions.
