They won't call you. And there will be no spam.

After finding 100 users that like history.
You will send a notification to 10 of them.
A notification is silent and doesn't bother. ( A small number 1 will appear in the notification tab) (on their screen)
Then, these 10 will send a notification back to you.
This notification will also be silent.
Then from these 10 people, 3 or 4 of them are ready to talk
Now you are ready to call them
 
Ask a question on a forum... And after a wait someone will answer.


Call them up and demand an instant response, and see how many people reply then.


It's a different thing all together.

Forums, quora, yahoo answers...

What conveys a more powerful and faster message: A single slow chat option, or, a chat + call + webcam session in which you see and talk to the person almost as if he was in real life in front of you ?
 
You say it works by sending your Nebuchadnezzar question to 100 people who know about history.... Because 10 of them are familiar with a particular monarch.

That sounds spamming to me....

The 90 others will get fed up and leave pretty quickly.


For your scheme to work, you need a much better way to separate the Babylonian experts from the ww2 experts.

Both would be matched by your English speaking history filter.

And you said the last step is to call them....

We said before :
You are not gonna send 100 notifications,
send only 10 notifications, there will be 3 people that knows him well
talk to these 3 people
 
People on those forums give very few instant answers as required by your proposal.


Most of the answers are given after a significant time delay.
 
If you are are only sending 10 , then your knowledge schema used for filtering needs to be much deeper.


Otherwise it would be like posting on a general forum and only letting 10 people reply to a very specific question.


Like I said...you have half of a very good idea here. The half you don't have is the difficult bit to make it work.

If you can get both halves then you really will have a program that rocks

We said : there are 500 000 people online
you apply the filter "language=english" and "knowledge=history"
you find 60 000 people
here you have filtered. It is no longer a general audience, it has become a specific audience.
 
However, when the app will be on.
There will be knowledge schemas and categories that will be added to make the app better, faster and more complete !

Right...so back to my original question about how you get people to manually complete there in depth profile.

We have seen how difficult it is for history, and we haven't even got to cookery yet.
 
Anyway I'll leave you to it.... The GUI is 5 percent of the problems. You've got a metric buttload of other problems to solve to make this even work.


Google tried and failed. Facebook have taken a swing at it...

does that mean that I still have to wait before getting my delecious mexican tacos ? :D

Ok, so:
When the app will be on, when a person is in the app, in the begining there is no need to complete in depth. One will only complete the few basic informations.
As days and weeks go by using the app, one will add informations to the profile.

Just as on facebook,
A user just joined facebook, there is only few things for now
One week later his facebook page will be more complete
One more later , more complete
and so on
 
Sometimes the best way to find the problem is to run fast and wait till you hit the brick wall at speed with your nose, and not worry about people who shout WALL!


Talk it through with your teachers if its a project.


Talk it through with a friend or librarian if it's a hobby.

Talk it through with your bank manager if it's a commercial endeavour.

And sometimes a broken nose can be a learning experience......
