New Firefox Aurora- Please help us test it?

Hey All,
I am currently interning at Mozilla Firefox and we are working hard to improve our Firefox For Mobile browser!

If you would like to help us improve our mobile browser please visit Test Mozilla Aurora for Mobile to test the next release of Firefox for Mobile before it hits the Android market. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions please contact me at wguaraca@mozilla.com or skype (wguaraca).

Thanks!
Test Mozilla Aurora for Mobile

I'd like to test Aurora but I'm using Firefox 5 as the default browser and don't want to lose it. Can Aurora be installed alongside (in addition to) Firefox 5 or is it a use one or the other situation?

Basic app security says, "know your source". If it's in the Android Market, I'd consider installing it. As it stands nothing beyond the email address indicates Mozilla's involvement.

Yes, I am paranoid and it keeps me virus/privacy-issue free.

I'm kinda security-crazy myself, but this is legitimate and if possible I'd like to test it out.

I've downloaded other non-market apks and not felt nervous because they were from xda or other reputable forums I look at, but why would a mozilla developer be hosting this on his own domain, domain which was registered on the same day he registers an account and makes his 1st post here. I'm not gonna.

His FB page says he interns at mozilla and does pass my quick test of looking like a real person's FB page though.

At any rate whenever I get one I feel safe installing I hope its faster to open and has flash. As it is right now I only use firefox for google voice, dont want the GV app and no other browser will work with GV in desktop mode.

I totally respect anyone's decision one way or another. May be totally legit, I have no solid evidence to the contrary. I've definitely downloaded things which weren't in the Market. However, If I have any doubt, I wait for a Market release so at least I have an idea (though a small idea) who wrote it.

I really hope Mozilla improves FF. It's not bad but could be so much better than it is now.

Hey everyone! Thank you for the comments. I am real Mozilla employee, I am currently an intern here at Mozilla and I created testthisfor.me so that I have one place where people like yourselves can leave feedback. Here is my mozilla e-mail if you have any questions: wguaraca@mozilla.com. Please send me any feedback or ideas on how we can improve the firefox for mobile browser before the next version is released to the Android market!

Crashdamage: Downloading Aurora will not change your default browser settings. Go ahead and give it a try!

Installed with no problems so far. Text copy is very nice. Speed is good but not a major jump over Firefox stable. Will post more comments after I use it for a while.

Edit...Save as pdf is easier to use...Share page and Find in page features are cool...got AdBlock Plus working...posting this with Aurora now.

Thank for the feedback. I will send this to our engineers. Here is some feedback I received at testthisfor.me: "I like the UI, the browser itself is fast, but boot time is slow, on mobile I often open a browser, use one site, close it. Also, a lot of websites pick up the Gecko string and post the WAP version of the website instead of the better one that firefox can render." Would you mostly agree?

Thanks!

Agree in general.
Best UI of all mobile browsers, which is why I made Firefox my default.
I never actually close the browser. I always let Android handle closing apps as needed.
Does fail sometimes to load full versions of websites automatically. I expected that however. Every mobile browser I try does so.
Already did an auto download and update to a newer Aurora alpha. Simple and seamless.
Only real complaint I have so far is scrolling is a bit rougher than Firefox stable.

Started it up for the first time and tried to get some addons working (adblock plus). Was unable to navigate through the ad block plus menu in order to set up a subscription. I like the interface, but the checkerboarding through webpages is mildly annoying. Even after a fresh boot, I was getting low RAM messages through Tasker while using. HTC Incredible on CM7.

Change the webpage to no longer call ARM6 'experimental' if it doesn't work at all. I'd suggest something like 'Not yet Available"
LG Optimus V

Hi been testing the new aurora version 7.0a2 seems good so far but it has been asking me to update to version 7.0a2 (yes the same version) so i did it and installed it says its updated but still runs the same version and asks to update to yes 7.0a2 which is already installed.

Any ideas.
