Help New fw update for UK generic (10.3.1.A.2.67)

Updated to 10.3.1.A.0.244 via OTA about two days ago. Though I'm rooted so I had to use RootKeeper before updating.

Otherwise, it was pretty straightforward.

Updated the other day, and I've noticed little difference between 4.2 and 4.1. the ones I've found so far are:

Screenshot cannot be done by holding the power button now, you have to hold power and volume down (which is better in my opinion).

When you swipe down, you get the toggle buttons at the top. This isn't new, but it actually writes the words of what each one does in the new version (they were just symbols in the old). - in addition, there's meant to be more toggle buttons but I've not found the option to activate these yet.

My Xperia - Again, not sure if this was here before but you can register with my Xperia and lock your phone remotely, as well as make it beep if you lose it or see where the phone is at the moment if it gets stolen (this all means I can delete Lookout!)

Numeric keypad when you put your pin number in has a different look

Album app has changed - delete photo button is now at the bottom.

That's all I've found so far but I'll let you know if anything else comes up in my daily phone rummaging!

With regards to the toggle buttons go into settings then display and then quick settings, here you will see a list of actions you can have as toggle buttons

The revision number has been changed from R5B to R6B.
Nobody seems sure of what has been changed yet. Baseband and kernel are unchanged in any case.

Okay I'm at the point where PC Companion is telling me to plug in the USB to the phone whilst holding down the volume down button. Nothing is happening on the PC or the Phone when I do this. Anyone else had this?

EDIT - Ignore this, I did it via the System Updates app on the phone. Took 2 minutes!

Glad you got it working, however for future reference, there are a couple of causes for this:

1. The phone has been turned on (it needs be off at this stage)
2. Holding the volume button down - its need to be held down before, during and after the connection phase until the update begins.

The phone was off at the time. In fact, it was switched off automatically by the PC (I did try with it both on and off too to rule out this possibility)

2. Holding the volume button down - its need to be held down before, during and after the connection phase until the update begins.

I did this too. So I tried holding volume down, then plugging in USB into phone whilst still holding volume down, and leaving it down for 2 minutes. Then I tried again but only holding it down ten seconds after plugging in. Neither worked.

I think it may have just not downloaded properly. My next stage would have been to start again from scratch where upon it would have probably worked.

Anyway, it's all done now. Not noticing much difference so far, but to be honest I'm not really sure what was updated.

do you know if it's a good idea to do a factory reset after these updates?

I don't think it's needed; They're designed to retain user data, and unlike some previous devices (hi Samsung!) I've had no issues with following the instructions and not resetting.

I've backed up my handset and am about to flash the update. I'll report any problems asap.

Update installed.... no issues. All user data remains intact, including all settings. :)

n.b. I used an .ftf and flashed via Flashtool so that I could reroot, but as I decrypted/created it from the PCC update files the result shouldn't differ. For anyone interested I'll make a post in the ATR sub-forum.

I'm unrooted and unflashed so I don't think I'll need to do that, but thanks anyway. I'll just use the OTA update, or failing that the PC companion update.

@Slug, any reason you need to re-root after the update? I installed my update a few weeks ago via OTA and Rootkeeper preserved the root.

Anything I'm missing?
