Help New Galaxy S (Mesmerize) owner - have questions :)

Hey everyone. Just got a Galaxy S (Mesmerize) a week ago and love it, but have a couple of questions.

1 - I want to update to Froyo 2.2, so I can get Flash running. I can't get Kies to recognize my phone when it's plugged in though (Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate on my laptop). Is there another way I can update to 2.2? Or is there a way to get Kies to recognize my phone?

2 - I have used Outlook for years for calendar/contacts/tasks. I found CompanionLink, but it screwed up my contact lists and wiped out my calendar categories Is there a good way to sync this with my phone? Or is there a Google app that works for all 3 (calendar/contacts/tasks)?

I'm pretty sure froyo has been released for none of the US Galaxy S' so you probably won't have any luck when you get Kies up and running.
