Help New Galaxy S3 user cannot get Messaging to work

Just switched to Galaxy S3. Everything is great but can't get messaging to work. Also no instant message program seems to work. Have tried ATT messenger and GoSMS.

I send message to my phone number and get nothing. It is like messaging is turned off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Settings, application manager (select all at the top) messaging. make sure it's enabled. If so, leaving the phone on pull the battery out, wait 30 seconds replace battery. I hope one of those works for you.

Problem Solved. For those moving to Galaxy from Apple, if you have any of your other apple devices set up to receive text for that phone number they will intercept the text and it will never go to your phone. You have to change the Preferences in Messages on your apple devices so they do not receive text for that phone number.
