Got a Question: my wife and I both have new Droid X phones. They are functionally identical - same O/S (Android 2.2.1), both Verizon, no real differences other than I have more stuff loaded at this point.
I loaded Hamster Climb on mine last week. Works great. Loaded it for her phone on Saturday evening. Not so great.
On her phone, there is no side-to-side motion indicated/available: when the game starts, the hamster goes up and comes down.... that's it (note that I really can't tell whether it is responding to up/down motion - the side-to-side thing is evident, and I can't get her any further along to figure that out.
Obvious first-step remedies: I Rebooted the phone. Same problem. Uninstalled the game, then re-installed it. Same problem.
Turned the phone 90 degrees left and right: the home pages and app pages and browser pages all rotate correctly as expected.
Figured we had a partial accelerometer problem, so I called Verizon. They had me do 2 things:
(1) reset the O/S by removing the battery for 10+ seconds. No luck.
(2) Loaded up Labrynith to check the accelerometers. That game works perfectly (as it previously had on my phone as well).
Back to Hamster Climb -- still no luck. Verizon tech explained that on some phones, "3rd party apps" can work differently on different phones even though they appear to be configured identically. Labryinth apparantly uses input from all 6 accelerometers -- they didn't know about how Hamster Climb was done.
I don't know how much of that story to buy -- I'm still thinking there may be a phone problem. Nonetheless, I wanted to report this and see the reactions. Thanks very much.
