For rooted phones only!
Android police have received a leaked copy of Googles new Gmail app.
New features include pinch zoom, swipe to delete/archive amongst others. This will work on any rooted 4.0+ device, including ours.

UPDATE:
Android police has taken the download link down at the behest of Google. Here's an updated link.

Thank enigmadroid for the updated link!
Here is how I installed it on my motion :
Download the apk.
Rename it to Gmail.apk.
Using root explorer navigate to /system/app and delete the original gmail app and odex.
Then navigate to /data/app and remove gmail from there too.
Using system tuner from the market I cleared the cache and dalvik (since we don't have recovery to do it with). Reboot the phone.
Using root explorer move the new Gmail.apk to /system/app, change its permissions to rw-r-r, tap it and hit install. Enjoy the newest and as of yet unreleased gmail app. It works perfect on our phone. (you may need to reboot the phone again after installing the new Gmail, I did out of habit).
Also, you must move the new Gmail.apk to /system/app before you install it or install will fail.
If anything here is unclear, feel free to msg me here or via pm and ill try to walk you through the process.
