new google contact disappears

I've managed to get all my phone contacts in as Google contacts now so they back up to my Google account.

However, if I add a new contact in my phone as a Google contact, it disappears (possibly straight after an autosync?) and doesn't sync to my Google account. If I add it as a phone contact, it stays but obviously doesn't back up to my Google account.

Am I doing something wrong?

I had this too. No idea why, and I would literally watch the entry disappear. In the end I had to in to Google and manually add it to my contacts online.

I have also noticed that any changes made on the phone to existing Google Contacts are not uploaded and get overwritten at the next sych.
Google made some changes to GMail/Contacts homepage yesterday. Could this be timed to co-incide with 2.2 roll-out?
I'm still on 2.1 - has anyone with 2.2 noticed the same issue?

I am on 2.2 and never had this issue in 2.1

Sorry to hijack your thread but how do you change all your contact to google contacts? never been able to work it out.

I have a solution for this.

I haven't tried it with froyo yet but with 2.1 I noticed when you added a google contact on the phone with an event (like a birthday) the contact dissapeared after syncing. Add the contact without an event, then sync, and all is fine, you can even add an event on the phone or in gmail later without problems

Definitely a Google sync issue, as I can add other types of contacts fine.
