Help new google dialer not able to search

i did the upgrade to kitkat on my moto x and the new google dialer is not searching. if i type something into my search field it only looks through my contacts. anybody else having this problem?

That's been reported by others. The dialer on the Moto X with KitKat did not incorporate the web search enhanced dialer that the Nexus KitKat dialer uses. So, I'd call it not so much of a problem and, instead, intended behavior.

I was a bit peeved when I first discovered this, as I've got a Moto X and a Nexus 5 here waiting for me to decide which one to keep. After using both, I'm finding that the web search in the dialer is not that useful to me, but the Caller ID on incoming calls could be useful. I've decided though that is not a factor in my decision.
