New guy here with a Tasker question....

Lurker
The phone I have is one I received from work, Galaxy S4. This phone# previously was issued to someone at work who I replaced.
Now, he must have signed up for some kind of alerts from local police or EMS services because I'm always getting txt messages about auto accidents, house fires, EMS call outs, etc... They number that it comes from is always random but they do all start with 777.
For example, the latest txt I got came from 777597056523 which of course is not a valid phone number. I've tried creating contacts and then blocking the number but it continually changes with each new message. Is there a way I can block ALL incoming calls and/or txt from any number beginning with 777?

Hi s1rGr1nG0, and welcome to Android Forums :)

I'm not entirely sure that Tasker is the solution that you're looking for. Have you looked at any other call-blocking apps? Root Call Blocker and the more advanced Call Master are two that I've used with good results in the past.

Nahhh its not the tasked he needs . the op needs for the previous owner to remove his guarded pin from the number . that is for a first responder usage . if he can't the next thing is to get a new number . there isn't no app or tasked that will stop that . this is why no one has access to the first responders call system .

Hmmmm,
Unfortunately I don't think that will be possible. The guy no longer works here, I was his replacement.
Just to clarify, these aren't calls I'm getting. They are txt messages with information like addresses, map location, neighborhood/subdivsion, and type of event.

EDIT: Also, I do IT work and am in no way associated with any type of first responder organization. It does seem weird that I get this information sent to me because I would imagine that the info, although not secret, is not something I would want the general public to get. The example listed above the type of event was "Explosion-Unknown".

The device is the same number and same phone . you need to reset account or have the previous owner switch his fire board info to his phone . I am a firefighter and where I am at the only one to receive this info would be deputy chief . chief . or ladder captains .

I'm not sure how he could have done it. We work in IT for a benefits administration company. The guy that had this phone before me was about 20, a terrible tech, and was eventually fired. I replaced him when I returned from Afghanistan last September and have been getting these messages on my phone the entire time I've had it.

Hey maybe volunteer is all I can see . did u do a factory data reset

No, this phone, (S4), I just recently received. Our company is updating it's phones and I had an iPhone 4S prior to this and it was also getting the messages. I'm guessing the messages are tied to the phone# which brings me back to my original question.
Can Tasker do anything to block them? All of them come from a # that always begins with 777. Is there a way to block that? Perhaps with a blocking task set to block any number that begins with something like *777* ?

I got something that may help if not the only way would be to reset account and or the phone.

OK . first thing do you know how to operate the device . need to go into phone settings. Once you in settings wireless scrolls down to cell broadcasting and turn off if off look to see if u see a extended menu look at the option and post back .
