New HTC Amaze 4G Review

Well it arrived yesterday, jsut enough energy in it to activate the new sim card and import some contacts as well. Then put it to sleep a full carge think I woke up green ligh showing on the indicator light and First glance wow well made. You can actually feel the metal lightly warming like a heat sink on the back of it. Weight hmm not much more than the LG G2x. Style wow nice phone.
Width um really not that much of a difference slips in tight faded blue jeans no problem. Fully charged but then the phone was like constantly downloading all the apps 137 and importing, and configuring putting the apps on the screens and surfing internet for the right type of apps to load and not to load. Battery life was like 5 hours but that was heavvvvyyyyy use. Completely dead last night full charge this morning. Mostly set up already. I will let you know how it does for longevity on the stock battery.

BTW Its fast I mean loading and unloading is soo fast almost no lag what so ever and the new interface is a pleasure to use as well and get to shortcuts as well. Still getting used the button differences and also an indicator light. Fancy that a light on your phone that tells you something is needed to be done:)

Well coming up on 15 hours at 44 percent now. heavy internet, apps and texting with some phone calls as well. loaded a few more apps and configured them wow it has no lag. Call quality is fantastic, excelletn antenna as well. This is only the second charge so far

OK its only slightly heavier than my G2x and 4.3 isnt that much bigger than the G2X which I think is 4 inches. Quality quality so far fantastic, volume loud, ringer loud, There is no delay on opening the apps either. The phone boots fast as well really fast. The display is just well Amazing. Speed in my area with 2 bars is 11mps on average. Battery life so far been great and it gets better. I do the turn it off and plug it back in charging method to get that few percent more out of it. So far very happy with it. Only one force close on GO SMS. The phone also does not become stupid after being on for long periods of time. its responsive all the time. No keyboard pop up lag when removing it from your ear like entering voice mail numbers or acct info on the keypad. the Newer 2.3.4 Android software is more responsive and sense is just a nice touch as well. I see why this is an editors choice and peoples choice on T Mobile.

I just got the Amaze and once I got Sense outta the way (without rooting) I'm really very happy with it. Has a lotta crapware though.

Still, for my money the Amaze is a better phone than the Galaxy SII. Perfect size though a bit thicker and heavier than the SII. But the Amaze has a higher resolution screen, better build quality, really nice camera and not one, but 2 actual camera buttons. I hate phones without camera buttons.

Now if it had only come loaded with vanilla ICS...

An Update to my review.. On the standard battery with moderate usage Im almost at 30 hours on the third charge. Ok to add to the review.. When listning to voice mails or music the speaker is really nicely placed unlike the G2x which was at the bottom and you had to cup your hand to hear anything loudly. I actually had to turn down the volume on this phone. Build quality wow this is a solid phone and it doesnt get hot like my older phone. I think that metal band they have going around it is a heat sink of sorts because that is all that gets warm.

Well you know Android it love to preload programs. This used to bog Down the G2X especially when flipping from heavy processor programs like mixzing or androirc or ebay. Nothing seems to slow it down. Cal quality with less than two bars was still perfectly clear no static or double talk from the person on the phone. The only thing I did notice about it I liked better with the G2x is it take alot longer to charge. But im ok with that. I purchased some extra batteries and a kit of sorts from ebay I now will have 6 batteries to choose from... Oh well. Thought I did low enough not to win that damn auction. Ill keep you guys appraised on it.

This will be an ongoing review...

Well to add to the review battery life gets better and yesterday with out about 80 percent light out I could see the screen and keypad extremely well. It wasnt like my DINC or my G2X. Photos btw WOW nothing like it its so much better than my digital camera in speed and options. It also has some nice options avail aftermarket for it as well docks, charger, extra cap batteries. cases as well. I will keep you up to date if anything changes ICS should be coming out soon then we will really know what this can do.

what settings are you on to get 30 hours on a stock battery? I have the screen at dull, time out at like asap and keep everything closed. I can only get about 1 day use and for me thats maybe 6-12 hours depending on how the phone is reacting. I have noticed lately that the phone is getting hotter quicker while in my pocket listening to some podcasts. (I love me some pods) I have found out that shutting the phone off and removing the battery for a few helps the life. I have seen the phone go from 95% to 80 or less within an hour.

Regardless of that issue with me. I could not have chosen a better phone. Although I wish it had a track pad or arrows in the keyboard. I find it hard to fix some auto spelled words.

Well it was fresh recharge from almost nothing. I i did Unplug it turn it off and plug it back and it charged longer. I only had a few calls and some texts most of the time it sat on the coffee table. brightness is set at auto no wifi or sync or gps. I has bee na fluke because im only getting around 22 hours now.

Comes with Gingerbread 2.3.4 but HTC and T-Mobile have both promised ICS is coming and no doubt it will. When is the question. No problem, I can wait. It works just fine 'til then.

How did you get Sense uninstalled?

I didn't uninstall Sense. I just avoid it with GoLauncher, GoDialer, GoContacts, Enhanced Email, etc. Sure, Sense still rears its ugly head here and there but it's tolerable enough it's not worth rooting.
