Help New i7500, wifi doesn't work, where to start?

Hi,

I just received my phone today. Wifi doesn't work - it just says "remembered" but disconnected. I've read a lot of threads with how to upgrade the firmware, but they have a lot of terminology I don't know at all. Is there a guide or tutorial for upgrading the firmware?

1.) Model Number ? Galaxy
2.) Firmware Version ? 1.5
3.) Baseband Version ? I7500JVG4
4.) Kernel Version ? 2.6.27 wootae77@SE-S409 #1
5.) Build Number ? 76XXCSDCBALUM6375

I bought the phone on Expansys, and they shipped it from the US to Canada (where I live). I'm using Fido as the carrier. There was no software (e.g. CD) that came with the delivery.

So what are the steps in upgrading to the latest firmware?

Wifi is still not working What could be the problem?

Wow never mind. Turns out yeeeears back, I set my router to only accept wireless connections from the MAC address on my laptop. Jesus christ that was unnecessary.

Glad you solved the problem. For anyone interested, WPA2 with AES encryption and a very complex passphrase is the best choice for wi-fi security. Filtering by MAC address doesn't provide as good security so it's unnecessary.
