Help New ICS update suking battery

I just went from a Gingerbread ROM (sorry I don't remember which one, I think it was Blendz or something) to the stock ICS update (rooted). I did a full battery calibration and everything. I'll charge my battery to 100%, then do a screen lock. After an hour or so I checked the battery and it was at 87%! Before the update the same scenario would leave the battery at like 98%. Any ideas on why this is? The battery will continue to drop FAST until it reaches 30% and goes into power-saving mode. Then, when the screen is locked, the battery barely drops at all. I checked what power-saving mode does, and it basically turns a lot of features (wi-fi, GPS, bluetooth, etc.) off when not in use. Why isn't this standard operating procedure for the phone? How do I stop the battery from draining when not in use?

Thanks in advance

Others have said doing a factory reset helped. My battery life sucked like your after the ICS upgrade. Yesterday afternoon I broke down and did a factory reset. So far the battery seems to be draining like normal. After an hour it was down to 98% with hardly any use. Time will tell if it keeps up like that.

Doing a factory reset was painful, but so far that is the only "fix" for the ICS battery draining.

A factory reset did the job for me.... I left my phone on last night at 24 percent, woke up 8 hour later and it was at 17 percent. also an fyi for some reason having wifi on kills the battery more than having it off..... even when you have a strong wifi signal...

Cool thank you, but again, can I restore my backups from Titanium? When I installed this stock update I did a data wipe anyway...

I don't see why not..... Isn't Titanium a 3rd party app that makes you put in a password to retrieve information? if so, I don't see why you couldn't access it by just plugging in a user name and password to get your information back..... if your still worried put the info on a micro sd card.

I know that I would be able to access the information. My concern is that whatever user data I'm restoring will cause the problems to return. I'll try a reset tonight and see what happens.

I just wanted to add that since I shut off my wifi, my battery life is quite excellent. Maybe there is something with the wifi going on. I looked at everything, but shutting the wifi did the trick (after a factory reset as well). Today, got up at 4:30AM, with light to moderate use, still at 83% while using 3G rather than wifi...even at home. I don't get it.

same here man... I've always used my wifi when i was at home because i've been told that it helps save that battery over. guess thats not the case with ICS....

There's already a thread ("ICS discussion thread") that was created expressly for discussing issues with ICS updates. It was made specifically to consolidate stuff like this Please use that thread instead. Thanks!
