New LG Volt Update LS740ZV5. Need help installing big apps to SD

Newbie
Okay, so I've seen a thread on downgrading from ZV4 but honest to god, I get lost as I know nothing about rooting or flashing.

Okay before anyone tells me to downgrade, let me state my intentions.
I only really wanted to root because I want to be able to install apps on my SD Card instead of the internal storage. I've only had the phone for a week and I can't even update my weather because it says I'm out of internal storage(433MB left). If there is any other way I can install apps onto the SD Card(no not just move them in settings, that does almost nothing), your help would be GREATLY appreciated

Thank you so much,
domokins

Nope, you have to root to do what you want, and downgrading is the only way to get root. However, to move stuff in the manner you want, you will need to use link2sd. The free version of link2sd won't let you move OBB and data files, which is the bulk of space use. You will also need to install the sdfix patch so apps can write to the SD card once their data is moved.

The other thing Iink2sd can help with is integrating system app updates into the system partition, which will free up user space. This also requires root.

The reason the native move to SD function didn't do much is because it only moves the apk.

Follow this guide, and ask any questions you have. This is as simple as it gets for our phone.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I'm willing to downgrade but I don't know anything about anything downgrade related. If there are any noob guides I would greatly appreciate it. It's just such a shame because I installed NOVA 3 and suddenly I have no space for anything new. Not even GO Launcher

That guide is spelled out as best it can be. Just ask on anything that's not clear. I've been trying to add further explanation as new questions come up.

Or use ADB and run "pm set-install-location 2"
You can also move the apps individually. Go to Settings>Apps>Downloaded

Note that not all apps can be moved, and moved apps lose widget functionality.

but the thing is, I wanna move a 2gb game, and doing it by going to app settings only moves the .apk

What is that? Have you done it and does it work?
Starting I think in GB, developers could say "by default, install on SD of possible" or "by default install on phone". Otherwise the phone decides "install on internal"

That command makes apps go to the SD by default. Note that it does not affect OBB files.

I personally have not tested this on the Volt, but worked on every other phone I've had.

Why exactly do you have a 2gb game on the device? Maybe simply getting Bluestacks for PC will solve this issue.

Because I like playing it on the go lol. I like portable gaming. Also, I have blustacks. It'd be impossible to play on BS because it's an fps with touch controls. Multiple touches at once. Wouldn't work with a mouse

That is only going to change the default install location. Data and OBB files will still go in internal storage because of KitKat SD access security. This would only save him having to use the move to SD option post install which, as has been discussed, is not sufficient.

We need to do a video of the downgrade --> root process. It was much simpler than it looked and the main problem most people run into is overthinking it or not having the right drivers installed. If you run into an error its usually something totally simple like not having the right drivers installed on your pc, or having to restart one or two times. or "zomg the guy said to click the .dll file and there's two of them which do i click"
