Help New market nonsense

Extreme Android User
I just put CM on the Nexus. This morning I wake up to junk mail from Google and a notice that the 4.4.3 is available. My gmail accounts are for spammers only, and I just banned Google. I don't use the Gmail app or website.

I don't want it, don't want the notice.

How do I get rid of it? I don't want to click on it by mistake.

Are you talking about removing the persistent update available notification because the only way that I know how to remove it is by going here:

Settings / Apps / Google Services Framework and unselect Show Notifications

A rooted phone can't be updated. (The update process will fail as soon as it sees that the phone is rooted, because updating a rooted phone could brick it.)

If the phone is rooted, you can also freeze the updater app - then you won't get any more notices.

Didn't CM and other community-built ROMs used to disable the Android OTA mechanism so that you wouldn't get these notifications? I've seen several posts over the past few days about folks running CM getting those stock update notifications. I wonder why that changed.

Otherwise, I believe that DC's solution should eliminate those notifications for you. :)

Are you sure it was a Google notification? CM will let you know when there are updates, too.
