OK, I'll admit it, I'm just posting to get rid of the "Don't lurk! Say Hi" banner. I just moved from BlackBerry to Android with an Epic 4g, unfortunately right after Sprint/Samsung suspended the OTA rollout of FroYo. I'm planning to root the phone and am combing through the mountain of information on custom ROMs for this device. For the curious, I am not a big phone hacker and I'd just as soon have an unrooted phone if I could, but I would not have bought the Epic if I thought it would not be upgraded to FroYo almost immediately. Also I would like to replace some of the Samsung "enhanced" apps with more vanilla versions (the fact that the calendar app defaults new entries to a local-only calendar is annoying), get rid of some annoying audio alerts that can't be disabled in the stock version (battery full, in/out of service), and delete the Sprint bloatware that I never use (Nascar, Sprint Zone, Sprint Navigation, etc.) My wife and I live full-time on the road in a converted tour bus, although we lived in the San Francisco bay area for two decades where I was in the computer, networking, and telecommunications industries. I've been gathering lots of good information from this forum for several months now and am looking forward to a bright future free from banners inciting me to join. -Sean
