Hello all.

I am someone is looking to buy a Note 2 in the UK. I have some questions I would like to ask.

1. Is there a difference between the international version and 4g version when it comes to the operating software? The UI or the S Pen? I went to the Samsung stall in Westfield and they didn't know. I remember once someone saying there was a small difference (something to do with the s pen?) but I'm not sure if it is an American difference or truly international.

2. I have been looking at buying a Note 2 from people who do not want their upgrades. Now when I bought an apple product once, I was able to go on the apple website, type the serial/model number and you could check that it is genuine. Is there such a way to do so for Samsung products?

3. What are the disadvantages of buying from a private/online (amazon)/shop. Is it the case that if I bought from a private seller, I can register it online (Samsung website) and if it has a 1 year warranty it will tell me how long I have and if I need to repair it within the warranty time then I can send it to Samsung? Or will that only come with buying it from an online store or an actual shop?

4. There is a guy selling an unwanted upgrade Note 2. He is on Vodafone. He does not know whether it is locked on Vodafone or not. Does anyone here know whether certain networks still lock phones on their network?

I really appreciate ur answers. I really want to buy a note 2 ASAP.

Many many thanks

I can answer the last question. Vodafone (and others) do still lock their phones. There is a small chance that it isn't locked but, unlikely. Also, Vodafone are t**** when it comes to unlocking. I bought a Vodafone locked iPhone 4 from someone and only he could request the unlock code, not me and even then he kept getting emails saying the IMEI wasn't valid. Also had a similar problem with my dads phone. He's recently updated so wanted to unlock his old phone and got the familiar "IMEI isn't in our system" or similar email.

Vodafone will be able to unlock the phone for him for free but, as I say, never had an experience where they've done it first time correctly so you'd need the guy to be helpful if there are any problems. - Fortunately the guy I got the iPhone from bought it back off me but, I know that not every one is as helpful.

Also, with regards to question 2, if there is, I haven't seen anything. That is something about Apple I like and I wish other companies adopted the same policy. I'm actually trying to sell a Note 2 at the moment but, don't have a receipt so is a bit difficult.
