Help New Nexus 6 - Not Updating beyond 5.0.1

Kirk Hilles

I apologize if this is one of those things where it'll fix itself in 24 hours, but I'm being very anxious about it and checking for updates too often.

Here's the situation. Brand new (from Google Play) unlocked Nexus 6 phone. Arrived yesterday afternoon and said that 5.0.1 was available. I figured that it needed to update to that before going to 5.1.1, so I did and proceeded to update it as well as every other Google app (all 18 of them).

Now, nearly a day later and it still thinks 5.0.1 is the latest version. I'm DYING to get 5.1.1 as I'm sure there are a number of important battery fixes.

Will this fix itself or is there anything I can do (other than rooting) to get it to "see" the update. Again, this was ordered directly from Google, so I can't see any legitimate reason why it would think this is the case.

Is this common? Any ideas?

These update "roll outs" happen completely randomly and you can't cheat the system.
You could Google "flash nexus 6 5.1.1 factory image" if you can't wait any longer :thumbsupdroid:

Thanks for the response. My concern is not that I haven't received an update that was released yesterday, but shouldn't 5.1 be the latest? Wasn't 5.1.1 released for unlocked versions long ago? Just seems really weird.

I don't know tbh you'll have to ask in the n6 forum but yeah 5.1 comes before 5.1.1 if I'm understanding you
(i think.... Doubting myself now lol) the joys of low self esteem)
