Help New "OK Google" problem

Android Expert
I've had most of the usual problems with "OK Google" with my various phones. However, about a week ago, a new one for me started.
All of a sudden my "10" stopped responding to "OK Google". I restarted the phone and everything was fine. The next day, the same thing happened. This time I went to the settings and was able to retrain my voice.(this didn't work with previous phones) I went back to my home screen but "OK Google" still didn't get a response. I restarted my phone and again it responded to "OK Google" for half a day then stopped. So now I'm not clearing my "Recent Apps" button so when it stops again, maybe I'll find the app that is the cause of my problem. Any other ideas or if anyone else had the same issue and solved it, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.

Either you installed one or not. Check your app tray.

That won't help now. I already restarted my phone so "OK Google" is working. I forgot to check before restarting the phone and now it's been close to 8 hours. I'm waiting for the next stoppage. Then I'll check and hopefully find the offending app. I did check the last few games I installed and they weren't the cause. That's why I think it was an update.

Don't "power off". It should keep working.

That's the opposite of what happens. Now it's working. Within the next 24 hours, "OK Google" stops responding. The only way I can get it to work again is to restart my phone. This time, before restarting, I'll check the Recent App list and hopefully find the the cause. Unless you have a better idea.

I found the problem but have no idea how to fix it. After I record a video message with my stock camera, I loose "OK Google" until I restart the phone. The strange part is I can still retrain the voice and the microphone works everywhere else. Could it be a camera setting?
I just figured out the more specific problem. "OK Google" is effected when I take a selfie video with "High Res Audio" OFF. With it on, then "OK Google" isn't effected. Very strange.
Upon double checking, this time the audio setting made no difference and it stopped "OK Google" no matter what it was set on.

I found more apps that block "OK Google" from responding and they all use the microphone.
1. The stock Camera when recording a Video Selfie.
2. The Ring Doorbell Camera app when using the streaming live camera.
3. AZ Screen Recorder which makes a video screenshot with sound.
After using any of these, "OK Google" stops responding. I wrote to Google, but I don't expect a reply. They never have before.
BTW, in Safe Mode, the camera doesn't cause the problem and I the other two apps can't be checked.
Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect that the root of this problem is probably related to some misapplied security efforts. There have been documented instances of home assistants (Echo, Alexa, maybe Cortana too) hearing a command coming over a podcast or TV program being played in the same room, and the home assistant responds to the command as though it was initiated by the assistant's owner. "Alexa: order me three tons of cow manure and have it delivered in a pile on my driveway." And Alexa does it!

Maybe the stories are BS but the concept is viable. And maybe that's the logic that was built in to shutting off OK Google during certain recording and playback functions.

Just speculation, tossed out there for forum fodder....

That is true. It has happened to me many times. When a TV commercial for the Google Assistant comes on, they say "OK Google". Every time my phone replies. The main problem I have is after I close the offending app, "OK Google" still doesn't respond. The only way I can get it to work again is to restart the phone. Thanks for the info.
