New owner - question

Hello everyone... prior iPhone 4 user but not completely new to Android as I also own a galaxy tab.

Originally was holding out for the atrix but after checking it out at Wal-Mart for the day early sale, I felt that the screen wasn't much bigger then the iPhone and it just felt cheaply made.

I ended up dropping my iPhone on the way out of the store and shattered the back, so now i needed a new phone either way. After a trip to AT&T, I fell in love with the inspire and the wonderful screen real estate.

BTW the battery life has been absolutely great and i am quite the heavy user. (20-30 calls, Facebook. Exchange emails etc...)

I try to limit what is running in the background if possible. I recently installed advanced task killer and killed all tasks, but when I reopen it 10 minutes or so later there are a variety of applications running that I never opened.

Any ideas?

I apologize ahead of time if there was any grammar or spelling errors. This was sent from my inspire .

Android OS handles processes efficiently on its own. ATK isnt even needed, if anything ATK will wear on your battery more. Or so I hear.

yes after 2.2 ATK is no longer needed Android has been changed to more efficiently handle processes and the ATK just wears on battery. Also I find that the more you limit background actions it can also have the reverse desired effect. The phone is optimized to run at a high level so when the background data is on it updates only the bit needed and for short spurts. When you lengthen the interval between updates in the syncing the syncing in turn lasts longer as more data is being synced as more time has elapsed and therefore uses more battery!

Just removed atk. Thanks. Is there anything recommeneded for removing background process's? Or should I not even worry about this?

I was going to add that if you truly wanted to end some tasks that keep re-opening, you can do so in the settings under applications. Then go to Manage Applications, find the one you want stopped, open it and hit Force Stop. But AC is right, it isn't necessary to do this. It's really just personal preference.
