I've just purchase my first android phone the LG Optimus One (P500) I have a question that after countless hours on the internet cannot solve. I know how to place widgets on the home screen by long pressing and selecting widgets. But I've noticed on some you-tube videos that when selecting widgets to add to the home screen instead of having rows of widgets to scroll through they are all grouped into folders. EG Beautiful Widgets that have 13 different widgets are grouped into one folder that says 13 items that makes choosing a widget a lot easier. How can I get the widget list shortened? Do I need to upgrade to Gingerbread? Is there an app I can use or is this only possible with certain phones? Please advise.

Welcome to AF! :)

If you post a link to one of the youtube vids, or give me the exact search criteria (I'm not sure if you can post youtube links until you reach a certain post count), I'll have a better idea of what you mean.

Thanks El Presidente

Here's is the YouTube search criteria listed below.

What are Widgets? (Welcome to Android #2)

At exactly 2 minutes under 'Choose Widgets' you'll see 'Beautiful Widgets' and in brackets it says (5 widgets). There are lots of other videos as well with this option.

It's specific to that app (beautiful Widgets) and various others too, it just means that there are 5 different styles of widgets you can add. I've an app called Extended controls installed, that has 2 styles of Widgets, as does Google Maps, Go SMS etc. Try installing one of them and you'll see what I mean.

Make sense?

I have the Beautiful Widgets app on my phone and when I long press and select 'Widgets' there are 13 different "Beautiful Widgets' styles all in a row to choose from. No folder option like the one in the video.

The app Widget Picker is exactly what I'm looking for however I may have to learn how to root my phone before I can install and use this app. Hey thanks everyone for your assistance.

Sorry I've somehow managed to post multiple copies of the same post. I've tried to remove the extra posts with the 'Edit' button but there is no 'Delete' button.
