New Procedure for Protecting Your TouchPad, Flash your A6 Chip Firmware

This tip has to do with the battery drain during sleep that has garnered so much discussion and concern over the last few months.

A lot of discussion, testing and research has gone into bringing this little tip to reality. A special thanks to J.C. Sullins for pointing us in the right direction. It was he that pointed out that the A6 controller chip firmware appears to become flaky over time. He suggested running his debricking process which during the A6 firmware gets reflashed. He tested it and confirmed that battery drain during sleep was improved. However, running the debrick process is rather involved and even in J.C.'s own word, not recommended unless one's TouchPad is bricked.

With a lot of discussion and input from various folks, it was discovered that the A6 chip firmware could be flashed without having to run the debrick scripts. RolandDeschain79 compiled the information and created a guide and a video detailing the process. Thank you Roland!!!! One can find all of this over on Rootzwiki at this link:

[ROM] [04/18] How to install jcsullins CM10 Unofficial Preview Builds Edited 4/26/13 - HP Touchpad - RootzWiki

You'll find it in the troubleshooting section on the OP of that thread, so scroll down to find it. Read the guide, watch the great video Roland created and if you still have questions, please ask them there and be sure to "like" Rolands work.

Johna2u hangs out over here now too? :D
Yes sir. I like it. I've actually been a member here since 12/11. First with a Coby then a Le Pan. Touchpad is the most fun so far. This forum seems like the little back room for the Touchpad. Not quite the hubbub and hustle and bustle of rootzwiki.
I think that A6 procedure should have its own thread.

It could if NT were to put "A6" in the title and we keep other discussion to to a minimum. :D

I'm no longer a guide so can't do that. (long story)

Knock off the unnecessary discussion you two!:D

OK - I'm in for a long story.

I've been away from the forums a while - just wanted to say thanks colchiro for all the past guidance. :)

It was an invitation for you to tell us why you cannot be our guide anymore. You suggested (long story). :smokingsomb:

Oh, gotcha.... :D

A lot of guides/mods burn out after awhile. My breaking point was when we were asked to monitor 10 forums and I ended up with 7 forums for phones I'd never heard of before. In a point of frustration, I told them I didn't want to do this any more. In retrospect, it would be nice to lock/unlock my guides and move irrelevant posts.

Some people just don't appreciate volunteer help. I was sort of in that position. I was so good at what I did, the boss would push any project that was failing on me and say "he can fix it". Problem was every project I fixed never got moved on to someone else.
