New ROM Apps on SD card, what happens?

So I have an HD2 and am running Android on it. I have quite a lot of apps and most I have moved to the SD card.

So my question is, what happens when I lay down a new ROM? I would assume it's not going to recognize the apps on the SD card. I can't copy the apps back to the phone and do a backup as I don't have enough room on internal storage for all my apps.

If I don't do anything I guess the apps will be in their directory on the card with Android not knowing they are there.

Just had a thought will Titanium Backup know they are on the SD card and restore there?

Sorry for the meandering questions ;-)

If I'm not mistaken your apps are stored in your google account, so they should come back.

Your settings will actually remain the same with all apps intact. I just went from a custom froyo (with sense) rom to a leaked gingerbread (with sense) rom and all o fmy settings remained intact. I then went to a vanilla android 2.3 today and things were still installed but all effed up (they were crashing and not loading properly). Rather than reinstalled anything I just restored to the previous leaked ROM that was working well for me.

So, from personal experience, I can say that if the ROMs are similar, or at least built off of the same/similar rom, you should be fine. If they are different (ie going from Sense to vanilla) you may have problems.

YMMV
