Help New ROM questions

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 which was running android 5.0.1, the phone was very slow and the battery died quickly so I changed to the Google Play Edition ROM which is much faster. I backed up everything I could think of such as pictures and music, in fact I just copped all of the files from the system and SD card onto my PC. I thought my contacts would be saved on my SIM card but they seem to have vanished, they are not backed up anywhere other than in the system files on my PC. So my questions are:

  • How can I recover my contacts from the files on my PC?
  • The new ROM does not allow you to move apps to the SD card, can I do it another way?
  • What is the best way to backup my phone in the future?
Thankyou, I hope that you can help so that I can gain more experience for the future.

AFAIK they're lost forever. Stuff doesn't work like that. Also contacts aren't saved to SIM anymore. Phones still have that capability, but past 2006, that's not default anymore because SIM cards as storage for data are sort of useless. SIM cards can only store a about 200 contacts with 1 name and number each. They can't save emails, notes, pictures, etc.

Just next time, sync the contacts to Google.

Thank you, I will sync them to Google from now on.
