Help new s5 and new to android

Hi all:

Just switched from a iphone 4s to a galaxy s5 so trying to get used to android. I love my galaxy so far but had a couple of questions that I was wondering if you could help with. I've been looking all over but can't find any distinct answers:

1 I set up my gmail account i have to the stock email app. When I get new emails I put them in the trash but periodically they show up. I make sure I delete them and they show up multiple times per day. Is this a known bug or is there a fix?

2. In the lock screen is there a way to make it show who a missed call was from, not just saying "missed call". The main issue I have is with the text messages on the lock screen. So far I can only find it having it say "new message" or it will show the person sending the message and the first line of text. In the iphone there was an option to show who sent the text but not any of what the text entails. I was looking a widgets and I found one called deskclock that looked promising but I can't for the life of me find how to put it on my lock screen. Not sure if it's because I have the fingerprint lock on but I can't find anything. Looking online it says there should be an option under the security tab in settings to enable multiple widgets but I'm not seeing anything.

Hi there, I do not know how much of help I can be as I have never used IOS.

To be honest I use an app called K9-mail and it is top notch. U can synchronize settings with all accounts, corporate, gmail or any other account. It is simple, fast and glitch free.

About the lock screen. There are hundreds of lock screen apps you can choose the one that you like: after a google search of "android lock screen show missed calls" I found those 2:

Lock Screen Notifications app
NiLS Notifications Lock Screen app

I don't have the S5 yet, but I use the stock Gmail app on my HTC DNA. I believe what you're describing is a sync problem. I see something similar on my phone occasionally. I don't know of a way to fix it though, sorry.
 
the email thingy looks like a pop feature. according to google multiple notification of the same email signifies that. its not clear from his post how he set it up initially. looks like he manually configured ?
how about deleting the account, reboot and add the account when asked?

Did you already install a replacement lock screen app? I used WidgetLocker for a while and although I liked the features it wasn't as reliable as the stock lock screen. I suggest reading the comments for whatever 3rd party lock screen app you download so you have an idea of the issues.
 
I haven't even tried a 3rd party one I just need to know how to install. II read you hold the lock screen down as bad a plus sign shows up but I'm not seeing anything any help would be appreciated. I feel like this is a lot easier than I am making it
 
I've also seen read a lot that there is an enable widgets option in settings but can't locate anywhere can't find in lockscree or security settings.
 
In my S4 I could put widgets on the stock lock screen can this be done on the S5 I have looked everywhere for this option? I really don't want to replace the stock one if I don't have to.
 
If you open up messages, and go into settings, and then notifications. You will message preview check that and you will be able to see missed text messages and missed phone calls in your lock screen
