New Samsung Galaxy S2 user - Apps & Battery

Hi,

I've owned the SGS2 for about 2 weeks now... i have surfed and read that many forums and stuff re getting the battery to last longer. I plug my phone in over night and its dead by the time i go to bed at night. I don't use the phone that much but yeah i guess i look at it a bit.

I have turned all things like WIFI, bluetooth, GPS and brightness off but still same results. I can't work out what apps are running or what apps i need.

Obviously when i got the phone it has heaps of apps on it.... can someone help me with which ones of these apps i should keep and which ones i should get rid of?

If you could help me re the battery that would be great but can ya pls put it in simple terms as some of the thing i read i just can't seem to get lol.

Thanks heaps in advance!

:D

What have you installed on your phone. Social apps are notorious for poling the server often and use the battery a lot. The number one power user on your device is the screen. Doing a lot of reading will have it's effect.

I have had my sg2 for over a month now and seldom return it to the charger with out 50% power remaining. I handle about 60+ emails a day and do almost 2000 minutes of talk time a month and the SG2 has more than met my needs. I leave BT on 24/7 for the hands free use in the car, never use WiFi as 3G does all my downloading way fast enough for me

I am wondering if there is a hardware problem.

Well there is only 2 apps i have added. Facebook, a footy tipping app so i can look up ALF scores and thats it.

There are shit loads of apps on the phone already all maps and things that came with it.... i wonder do i need all of them and could they be draining the power? How do i stop FB from constantly checking for updates because wouldn't that be chewing thru power?

I have everything else turned off and my screen is really dull
I'm really frustrated with it and yeah it just doesn't last for me.

Sueade, you know you can check exactly what it is that's draining the battery?

Settings -> About phone -> Battery usage

I find the display takes the largest chunk, by far, but you might find different. I think a day's use out of it is fairly standard though, unless you're using something like GPS a lot in which case it will drain much quicker.
