Root new sd card for rooted phone

i recently bought a bigger sd card and my phone is rooted. im curious what steps i need to follow to mount the new sd card and not brick my phone
 
1. make a backup
2. copy contents of card to pc
3. Repartition card
4. copy contents from pc to card
5. restore the backup you made
6. ???
7 PROFIT!
