Root New SD card from Scratch rooted

navh

Newbie
i have been trying for weeks now to transfer all my data of a 16gb card to my new 32gb card. tryed the simple copy from one card to the other then nandroid. only thing was kept getting md5 fail crap. then i tryed to install sdk to run adb and couldnt get that eather!

so now im going to see if i can do a clean install from the new card with having only the oxygen zip and the radio then just install new zip from memory card.
i know that this will remove all data but that is ok as my 16gb card is full of crap.

any advice would be much appreciated

Try this... you have the nandroid on your old card. Back it up to pc. Move the original backup on the old card somewhere out of the way. Copy the backup back to old card.

Restore. Do you still get an Md5 mismatch?

An Md5 mismatch occurs because the backup has become corrupt. We need to isolate the step where this happens before moving forward. Please do this and report back

So perhaps there is an issue with the new card. Download H2testw from the toolbox linked in my signature. Its an .exe that runs from windows. You ca use it to check your card for errors.

There must be a reason why the backup is corrupting on the new card. The main causes are:

Corrupt file system
Fake Card
faulty card

How big is the backup?

the whole back up file is 2.75 gb and each backup is between 500mb to 700mb. i think the card is a fake it was sold as a class 6 but so far it is writing at 2.51mb!! dont think that is class 6!!

Android write speeds can be limited depending on rom and kernel. Card reader would be best test. If you mount usb mass storage via clockworkmod, you should get better read / write than with android running.

But if the whole folder is 2.75GB, it could be a 2GB card which means the last 0.75 over writes the first 0.75, corrupting it.
