New SD card stops the phone booting?

Hi, any help much appreciated!

I bought a new 16gb SD card, but when I put it into the phone and try to boot it up, the phone just hangs with the boot up screen playing over and over?

Anybody else had anything similar? I've inserted the SD card into a mates laptop, and it recognises it fine.

Running a rooted handset with DeFrost ROM.

I've had this after partitioning and formatting a card. had to reformat the card

I reformatted the card today already...

I have read something about the fact that my old card already contained a partition, the phone is maybe expecting there to be one on the new card, and wont boot due to its absence?

But if that is the case, how do I start using the new card, because I can't partition it without the phone booting up to allow me to partition it!?

partition it using gparted on your mates laptop or something
