Help New signal issue problem

SixHouse

Newbie
This is odd. Had my GNex for a long time now. Never had a 4g signal in my house which is fine because I normally have LTE turned off and only turn it on when I'm out and REALLY need it (streaming video, hotspot etc.).

However I always had a strong 3g signal inside my house. I was out of state last weekend and since the minute I arrived back in my house, I have NO 3g signal... NONE. The triangle stays gray and never gets even the smallest hint of a bar. Just a solid gray triangle with no bars.

I didn't change ANYTHING on the phone so I doubt it's a software issue. Furthermore, when I leave my house/neighborhood a full 3g signal comes back. So wtf happened? Did someone take down a tower near my house?!? What are the possibilities here? I called VZW and as expected they had me pull sim card, reinsert blah blah blah but nothing helped.

What could have happened while I was away for the weekend?

Also note that my wife has a Droid x2 that still gets a full 3g signal inside the house?!?

Best suggestion is bring a phone with 3G in your house (like a friend's) and see if it gets any signal. If it doesn't as well (or its incredibly weak), then you can rule out you Nexus as being the problem. But then you have the misfortune of being completely at mercy of Verizon resolving the tower issue.

The fact that out of the blue that you can't get 3G in your house specifically leads me to believe its a Verizon issue.

That seems weird indeed if rebooting doesn't resolve it. How's your setting on data roaming and system select? Mine is unchecked on data roaming and I set system to "home only". I have no 3G signal issues with that set up.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I've seen a couple of people report that their phone's 3G radio has just died completely. :( It may just be a hardware failure...
