Hi everyone. Bought my first smart phone at age 75 (Samsung Galaxy S8). Being used to a computer screen, in comparison this thing is cluddered with junk. I won't even give out the number till I get a handle on it. About the only time I carry it is when I go to happy hour with the gang so I can pick their brains.
This is going to be a sloooooow process - with a lot of questions.

So are you the only one at the bar who doesn't have a Jitterbug? Sorry had to do that, lol-
Good for you trying new stuff, it can be overwhelming regardless of how old you are. The S8 is a nice phone with lots of capabilities, just take some time to get familiar with it. There's plenty of online resources here and elsewhere, anytime a question pops into your head just type it into the search bar here or on Google and plenty of stuff will pop up. In the rare instance that you can't find the info you need you can post your questions here and we'll do our best to help.
These devices have only been around for about 10 years so it wasn't that long ago we were all new at it.
Enjoy the S8.

Welcome to Android Forums Dennis. It's great to have you as a new member. You've chosen the best spot on the net for assistance on getting up to speed with your new smart phone. You've bought a great phone that will serve you well. It's a great tool that you will enjoy once you are in command. It can do a lot for you or you can just use the phone features. Congrats on your new phone and thanks again for joining AF.

Hi Dennis. Let me know where happy hour is, I'll meet you there. ;)

Lesson one, getting rid of the clutter ... If you don't want an icon on your home screen (aka desktop) touch and hold until the trash can appears and then drag it there. That doesn't remove the app, just the shortcut. Your apps will still be available in your app drawer (icon that looks like 9 squares stacked 3 X 3).
