New to Android - couple of questions

Stal

Lurker
Hi all, I've recently got an HTC Desire running 2.2. I've mainly used Symbian devices for a long time now and just have a couple of questions after using Android for a while now:

1. Gallery Albums - love the way Android picks up folders as albums (why was this so painful on Symbain!??). Just wondering if there is a way to a) create new albums on the phone itself - not major as i know i can create a new folder via usb or i use Astro, or b) set a default album for new photos to go into? I could do this within the camera app in Symbian and found this quite handy.

2. Calendars - I use Exchange with Outlook 2003 at work and was previously using Nokia's Mail4Exchange on my last device to access my work email sync my work + phone calendar. I like having my personal events and my work events all in the same calendar, and was previously able to create new private events on my phone that would sync to exchange, but i cant figure out how to do this on Android? I know I can use a seperate calendar, such as my google one, but i would like my private events to also be in my work calendar, but private so the details are not visible to other work colleagues. Hope that makes sense!

If there was a way to colour code work and personal entries in the calendar this would also be a bonus.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi, welcome to Android!

First off, I would suggest that this get posted in the General Questions section, not applications. Regardless,

The calendar should automatically color coordinate based on the feed. For example, I have my Facebook, Google, Trip It and Exchange all different colors. It could just be an HTC Sense thing, but I am not sure.

Hi, thanks for your reply :D

I've noticed the Calendar app uses different colours for different calendars, however I need to keep all my events in my Exchange calendar, so I can view them when at work in my main work calendar.

I could setup an additional google calendar for personal events, which would colour code the events on my phone, but these would not be synced to my exchange calendar - unless I'm missing a trick somwhere.

After setting up exchange calendar synching it adds a new calendar to the calendar app called "Exchange" (or something similar). When adding new events on the phone if i add them into the Exchange calendar they will synch with my work calendar but appear in the same colour, if i add them into a seperate calendar they will appear as a different colour but wont be synched.

I guess its a bit like being able to use the colours in the outlook calendar for events, if these were shown in the phone calendar that would be really useful. Hope this makes more sense!
