Help New to Android- few queries please

Hi Please bear with me as I only got my first Android phone at the weekend after 5 years of iPhones.

I am loving the Android experience, Nova Launcher, how it is so customizable unlike the iPhone etc. Few queries though if I may?

From my iPhone/ipad I was able to regularly print emails etc using my wireless HP printer. I was very totally disappopinted to find that is not so easily achieved under Android. I downloaded the HP app that enables printing of photos and docs but it seems there is no easy way to print emails. It just works with ios why not Android or am I missing something?

I cant work out how to stop incessant unwanted notifications (i.e unwanted Skype contacts, Waze is still running-I know it is!- etc etc. Is there an easy way to only receive notifications that I want. On emails and texts, whatsapp etc can I not get a number appear above the icon with 1 or 2 etc on it?

Lastly today I found that in addition to the contacts I had set up yesterday evening there are now skype contacts, facebook contacts etc that I dont want in my contacts app. From another thread on this forum I found the "contacts to display" menu item but am still none the wiser as none of the options bring up my complete list I made yesterday.
Even worse when I tried to send an email using MailDroid it brought up contacts from a company I haven't worked for four four years! Where on earth are they coming from?

I appreciate any help thanks

Not sure about #1

for #2 all you need to do is go to settings>application manager>running you will be able to see all of the apps that are still running, you select one and chose, force stop. This works for me and facebook nots to stop waze.

I dont really use skype so Im not sure how you would do this.
On facebook Im sure there is an option that lets you choose what contacts can reach you via phone.(I've done it before, I cant remember off top of my head, Ill come back and let you know)

#3 skype and facebook, probably asked you to sync your contact info into your phone and you click yes, here what I would do

my back up pro,
Back up all of your data. (In case you delete an important contact and you need to retrieve your info)
or just save the contacts you do want on your google account.
Do a wipe data this should delete all of your contacts, and you can either add them manually again, or use your google account(the ones you saved). After you do the wipe, do not let facebook, or skype sync your contacts.

For point no 2, if you go to settings > applications manager > app there is a checkbox at the top that says 'show notifications'. Just untick it and they should stop appearing (but will still be running if you want them to be)

Thanks for your help, very useful indeed. I used to answer a lot of queries on iphone/ipad forums but the table is now reversed and I'm a newbie- I'll get there thanks to helpful people like you lot. Cheers
