Help New to android. Hello Everyone!

Im new to the android phones and wanted to say HI to all android users out there. Ive just purchased the the samsung galaxy s GT-i9000 yesterday, based in australia. Ive upgraded to this phone from the HTC HD2, after it died on me. Im still getting used to the phone, so im hoping to get some help regarding this phone/os.

First things first, I thought this phone would have come pre-installed with a facebook app? (My galaxy s came with android 2.2). Since it did not, or maybe I havent searched hard enough, can someone please recommend for me a good facebook app. If possible, one which appears on my home page with automatic updates, searches or something which is more than just an icon to enter facebook (Hope that made sense).

Secondly, If you guys can recommend me some apps that are deemed "essential" for this phone/os, that would be great. Eg. something like the "task killer robot" app.

And finally, maybe if you guys can recommend a good site for downloading apps, not the app market pre installed with this phone, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry for the long rant guys. If you guys can help me with these things I would be forever greatful. Im hoping to be a long time user of the android, and when i master it myself, I will definitely help newcomers.

Peace!

The official Facebook app can be found within the "free apps" section of the market. Should be relatively close to the top of the list. This app can then be displayed on your homepage and also comes with notifications, search features and everything else you'd expect. Reason why this app doesn't come pre-installed if most probably because it's not a google product.

You mentioned about downloading a task killer, this isn't necessary with android 2.2 as it comes with it's own task manager.

I can't think of any apps deemed essential, everything is really based on personal preference.
