Help New to android, is the Nexus for me?

I think im going for the galaxy nexus, i like to mess around with the phone, but still the nexus seems like a great phone for my first android device.

I'm also debating my next phone now that Verizon has announced 4G here. Coming from the Droid X I have the following thoughts and concerns. Keeping in mind that I haven't rooted, but I may:

1. I have always liked Motorola's build quality. I have no experience with Samsung. Someone convince either way as to how Samsung stacks up.
Build quality should be just fine, I know many people that have Samsung phones as well as read from many members here with their phones that haven't had build quality issues (radios and GPS otoh were questionable in the past but seem to be fine now.)

2. I don't like what Moto has done with Blur. I use GoLauncher. Is this slowing down my phone and will I like the stock vanilla ics ui? If I have to replace the launcher anyway, then it's a wash between Razr and GalNex(door).
I would watch the videos that are out showcasing what UI changes have been made to ICS because it will be different from previous versions. It could be that GoLauncher is slowing your phone down a little bit because it is running on top of the Blur launcher (make sure you remove all widgets from the Blur launcher before using GoLauncher because it will take up more resources runing the widget twice) It would not be wash using a different launcher because of above reason.

3. I hate the laggy Droid X camera. The promise of a no lag camera has my attention. Will the Razr be close enough to lag free to make this a non-issue? This is actually pretty important to me. I currently dread using my camera.
I don't use the camera on my DX much either, not that great. No guarantee that the RAZR camera will be better. Past performance does not guarantee future results but in case we may be able to make the exception.

4. But maybe the biggest issue - Since this is a vanilla dev focussed phone, will it get updated more often than others? I want the newest updates NOW.
It will always be updated before any other device on the market. (aside from overlays (read: Blur, Sense, TW, etc) from the OEM's, if they choose to update them due to bugs)

Thoughts?
