new to android w/question

I am looking for an app that allows me to talk to the phone and transcribes what I say into a text messaging program. Is that available and what is recommended?

Can you upgrade the 2.3.5 os into something newer? I have the ZTE Warp (N860) phone.

Thanks
Ray

EDIT: Sorry - somehow missed the second paragraph of your post. You should be able to check in your settings if a firmware update is available through your carrier. The newer firmware should come with something like what you're looking for if it's available.

I use hand cent for my SMS needs and on my keyboard there is a microphone and pressing that allows me to talk into my phone and it transcribes it into a text for me.

I am on 4.2.2 so it maybe my is version more than the app because as I'm typing this I notice I have the mic on the keyboard.

I’m on 2.3.6 and with Google's Voice Search installed, a little microphone icon appears when the keyboard is running, just left of the spacebar. So open any text editor, tap the icon and you’re prompted to Speak Now. When you stop, it figures out what you said (more or less) and it puts it as text in your editor... not sure if that answers your question.

I dont think the warp ever got past gingerbread officially. check out the forum on here for it though.

and you want voice search, it adds the microphone like these guys said.
