Hello all,
I'd like to say hello to you all. I recently ordered a Motorola Defy (will be delivered Monday). It's not my very first smartphone, but almost. A year ago I bought a Garmin-Asus G60 (not a real smartphone) which died on me after less than 7 months (battery was completely worn out and wouldn 't last a day). When trying to update the map the thing wouldn 't connect to any comuter anymore so I sent it back and after a fortnight got a replacement from Garmin. This, however was not a G60 but an M10. I wasn't very happy about this as I'm pretty allergic to MS products. All my laptops run on Ubuntu. After a week I returned the M10 because the maps were completely gone after the map-update.
The only good thing about this M10 is that it sparked my interest in smartphones so after looking around I decided to order the Defy, mainly because of its ruggerised design. The only fear I have is that I might have some trouble getting a decent off line navigation system installed on it as it has only 2GB of internal memory and I understand that for an app to run of the external SD-card I need Froyo instead of Eclair. So any tips on installing Froyo are very welcome.
I have allready been playing with the appinventor but I doubt I will get much further than making the kitty purr... (I have quite some experience as a Ubuntu-user but none whatsoever as a developer)
Btw, I live in Antwerp in Belgium.
Bye for now, Dirk
