New to Android

Lurker
I have a new ARM CortexTM-A8 MID tablet, and trying to get up to speed on its use. Some of the apps that were factory installed don't work so I have to find alternatives in the app store. I've switched the browser, the email client and the e-book reader so far, and they all work fine. Now I need to figure out how to transfer photos and music from my Windows PC using the USB cable provided. No PC software was provided so I have to download the Android equivalent to iTunes. Any suggestions?

Hi there pbhinds... welcome to the forums!

Device specific advice is available in the sub-forum for each device (go to http://androidforums.com/ and scroll down until you find your device - sorry... would have put a link to the correct forum, but I do not recognise your device).

If you plug your device in to the computer, can you go (on your pc) to computer and then removeable disc (usually E or F drive)? You should then be able to see what is on the device (usually you will find a folder called music (for your music)).

Hope this is some help!

Welcome to Android Forums!

When you plug in your tablet you should see a little usb icon in the notification bar. Drag down the bar and click on the icon. It should give you a choice to switch to mass storage mode. Accept this option and your pad will show up as a removable drive on your PC. Just copy files that way, no iTunes required.
