New to Android

Hi, I am new to the Droid community and really would like some assistance in understanding what is happening with my phone. Here's some of my issues.
1. Sometimes I get calls which my phone won't let me answer. Any suggestions?
2. How do I change the menu for incoming calls so people don't have to make a selection (ie press 1, press 2, etc)
3. When I firsst got my Droid 9 days ago) I had my favorite contacts in a pull down menu on my main screen (over night they disappeared).
4. Is there a user manual out here on the web somewhere?
