I recently came from a DROID Eris, I got my D2 today in the mail, the first thing I did was root it, overclock it, and install my apps. What else? I know that it was easy to install custom ROMs on the Eris, but I'm not sure about the D2. Does it even have a recovery partition? And, since Motorola put a Draconian security setting on it, are things like CyanogenMod even possible? Also, what is the best ROM for me? I'm looking for speed, stability, and battery life. One last question, what about the notification widgets, like the ones I had on my Eris in CM6.2?

Check out the Root sub-forum. I highly suggest giving Fission Rom Manager a try and follow all the steps. It'll show you how to create back-ups which make it a snap to go back and forth until you find a ROM you're comfortable with.
