New to G1

Unplug

Lurker
Hey guys im new to the G1, and have a few questions

1. for messages, how do i get them in order
Example:
me
friend
me

but currently
friend
friend
friend
me
me
me

even though we messaged in turns?

Are they rather quick exchanges? Sometimes I send a couple quicker than the response gets through so I get:

Me
Me
Wife

even though the timestamp says it should be:

Me
Wife
Me

nope for example

Me 12pm
me 2pm
me 3pm
friend 1230
friend 1
friend 130

but i want it to be in order of time not receive and sent

so
Me 12pm
Friend 1230
friend 1
friend 130
me 2pm
me 3pm

nope for example

Me 12pm
me 2pm
me 3pm
friend 1230
friend 1
friend 130

but i want it to be in order of time not receive and sent

so
Me 12pm
Friend 1230
friend 1
friend 130
me 2pm
me 3pm

Are we correct in assuming that you are referring ONLY to SMS messages and not:>> Emails or IM's or MMS's ?

If SMS are you using the default SMS program or some addition SMS enhanced app ?

i am referring to sms
i was using chompsms but not using it anymore

I know others have had problems with Chomp with delayed delivery of msg ... that might be one possibilty ... I have never used Chomp so can say for sure.

Hopefully you have uninstalled Chomp to test to see if that corrects the issue.

I have message threads that are in time order and their deliveries are very fast ....

I did check the Chomp feed-back/comments ...did not find anyone that mention time order problem, but many had slow delivery and laggy program execution ...

Lets us know if you still have problem after uninstalling Chomp ...

ive uninstalled chomp
my messages come in fast, thats not problem
but im still having that issue, now is there anything i can do to fix that issue?

his messages that he sends are grouped together and so are mine

***also the "time displayed when the message arrives seems to be wrong aswell"

a - I use chompsms as well. It works great. Have not seen any issues.
b - Are you both in the country? Are you both on the same carrier? I understand you said you are "new to G1" did you change networks/carriers to get the G1?

Good point --- Wonder if it could be a time zone / carrier issue ?

This may sound off, but i think the MMS system categorizes the sent and recieved text based on what time it was sent/recieved. If you are on different time zones, i can see it cause an issue.

From past experience, SMS and MMS are a operator level function like phone service. I would contact the carrier you have and explain the problem. Like all customer service calls it may take multiple calls to various departments until you find the right person. But likely the problem is with their SMS equipment, not with your device.
