Root new to root

New to rootiong i have a droid razr maxx with android version 4.0.4 and system version 6.16.211.xt912.verizon.en.US can anyone help me out?

I'll throw out a few feelers and see if we can get you an experienced rooter to help you out.

At Droidrzr.com you will find a dev by the name of mattgroff (batman avatar)
He created a utility call Matts Utility. That utility runs a script and just with a few clicks of a mouse can root your Razr. However, if you do not follow directions, you can brick your devixe turing it into a paper weight.

Simple just Google search Matts utility at droidrzr.com

well im new to android to i have rooted before and its really not that hard but with anything you have to be careful cause you can mess your phone up i messed mine up there for a lil while but a person on here helped me fix it and it was easy to fix i would wait its not that long if everything goes as plannedarty:

After you have rooted and you want the ability to install roms, you will need Safestrap installed. That link can be found in my Bionx threads here at phandroid.

However, if you root, you will lose the ability to update over the air from verizon.

My advice is update to jellybean first (questions? I have answers) , than root using Razr Blade (il get you a link if u wish) than install the newer Safestrap for jellybean users.

i have a question which rom is safe for my phone i have a motorola droid razr maxx and every time i put a rom on my phone it dont change nothing i dont know if im doing something wrong but i want to know how to install a custom rom i have a verizon motorola droid razr maxx

i have the same one i was confused on rooting the phone now i know how to root it once you download the files from the link they gave you extract it to your desktop.
