Root New to Rooting

Hello all,
I am new to rooting and I have a quick question. I recently decided to root my Infuse since Samsung has yet to release Gingerbread. I look at this website all the time at work (cant post anything cause if i try to log in i get blocked, stupid proxy) and read about the super-one touch and Infused v2 Rom.

Well, I finally did it. One Touch worked awesomely.
I followed all the directions for Rom posted on xda website ([Q&A] Infused v2 ROM - xda-developers) using ROM manager and I thought I did good. The phone rebooted, and has since been on the SAMSUNG splash for over 30 mins now.

My question...is this normal, and if not how do I fix it to try again??? Thank you for any and all help.

P.S. Full disclosure I also posted on xda form as well, seeing as I dont have a phone other then my cell phone I kinda need it. ^_^
 
Oh great, well I am on XDA too but over there your more likely to get something a little better, but ill try my best here and not do a repost over there, thanks for saying that lol. Ok well did you do a Nandroid beforehand? If you did then hold both volume buttons and power button and when the samsung screen pops up again you will get to cwm. Other then that, use Odin back to stock over on XDA in the Dev section. Did you even get cwm working beforehand? When you Odin back to stock, do not worry all your pics will be saved, but of course messages and contacts will be deleted, just restoring what you should of backed up earlier. The Infused rom, my favorite, does not take that long, should maybe be like ten minutes long if you have never installed anything else before.

Dont worry we've all been there :)

Some tips:

Make sure u nandroid backup and use titanium backup ur apps and let that also upload it to dropbox so u are super safe :)

U can also check out the MIUI ROM which is 2.3.5 android and allows google talk video chat and has far more features than infused. but infused is more of a generic everyday rom. MIUI is your over the top super duper bells and whistles ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278053

Firstly, I have not have to Odin (yet), so I may be the only one Ha. Anyway Miui has been ported to most Android forums, but there are a few I like better (Dlev, Infused). Go over to XDA and look up some, and they are not all that bad to install either, just at first may look a little intimidating. Make sure they are for the Infused (unless using the Hellraiser).
 
Just finished rooting and installing Infused. Worked like a charm this time. Used CWM way.

Was going to try MIUI but when I went to flash it said there was no zImage so I just went Infused. Thank you for all the help.

That's weird, try downloading Miui again and see if that helps.

LOL! let me warn you. Go no further if u dont want to. i had to go through so much trouble for the MIUI ROM...my goodness! I'm thinking of switching to infused now because for some reason my battery reads 70% then all of a sudden 5%?? Ryanscool can u tell me what is going on!!!? and i cant turn my phone off when charging it turns on by itself wth!?

Well, i think Miui wants to turn on when charging, and did you take the battery out when it dramaticly changed?

Ok...allright so ill guess I will just reboot everytime thay happens. Boots are super fast and boot anomation is very nice :D

trust me it takes like...2-3 days to get the rom running smooth it is soooo nice!!!
I luv it its like taking android to the next level really...i just dont like the name...MIUI wth? wat is MIUI? mee-yoo-ee?? or my-u-i??? lol
